OPMOSH – Unlock the RAZR MAXX Bootloader

>

ANDROID COMMUNITY, IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT.
We, the +Android Community need to band together once again for the common good. This time we look towards Motorola Mobility. In months past, we joined forces for the common good against +ASUS and +HTC . We used social media to fight against decisions made by HTC and ASUS to lock the bootloader of their devices. Since then, BOTH companies have rescinded on their statement. HTC has unlocked numerous devices back to back, released kernel sources and have even setup a complete opensource developer website. ASUS has promised the modding community that they are working on a bootloader unlock tool for the Transformer Prime, appeasing our demands.
This time we call upon you for #OPMOSH - Operation: Make Ourselves Heard against +Motorola Mobility.
Many consumers purchased Motorola mobile devices in Q3 2011 because we were told time and time again that they would be releasing a software tool (similar to other companies listed above) that would unlock bootloaders in the second half of 2011. Many purchased Droid Bionic, Droid RAZR or RAZR MAXX in hopes it would be unlocked with Motorola’s promises.
Not only have they missed their deadline, and rogue-edited their blog post’s time frame for the bootloader unlock software rollout from the “second half of 2011″ to “later this year”, but they have actually given an official announcement of their plans… to release a completely separate HARDWARE version of the RAZR with an unlockable bootloader. This is unacceptable for those of us who dished out 700 dollars, full retail, to get our brand new devices in hopes that they would eventually stick to their words and set these devices free. This is unacceptable.
The #OPMOSH movement against Motorola is simple. Stick to your words and set previous devices free via a software tool as promised. Consumers should not have to purchase another device.
